Epididymal cyst

Epididymal cysts can provoke anxiety and concern for men. They are easily diagnosed with a scrotal ultrasound and most cysts don’t need surgery unless large or painful. Men who wish to remain fertile should not have cyst surgery unless deemed necessary.

Cyst excision is performed under a general anaesthetic through a small incision in the scrotum. Dissolvable stitches are used and normal activities can be resumed after several days. There is a small risk that new cysts may develop or previously removed cysts may recur, although this is rare.
